Introducing microblading: semi-permanent eyebrow tattooing that looks like real hairs

Microblading – also known as 3D brows, or feather tattoo eyebrows – can give you the brows you’ve always wanted, and is a great treatment for all ages, male and female.

Microblading – Powder brows – Microshading

Is it time to give those brows a makeover? In our Auckland and Matamata salons, we offer several techniques to achieve just what you like with your brows. Choose between microblading, ombre powder/shading, microshading, or a combination. We are here to give you the best looking brows in town!

Microblading

One option to make your eyebrows stand out is microblading. Using a small handheld tool with tiny needles, our microblading professional on staff will use semi-permanent pigment to each eyebrow to give you that perfectly-filled, natural look. This is not the same as an eyebrow tattoo or permanent makeup, so if you ever want to change your brows again, it’s no problem. The look will last you about eight to 12 months and is less effective on combination and oily skin types.

Ombre Powder/Shading

The ombre powder technique is a more permanent option than microblading, as it deposits the pigment deeper into the skin. Tiny dots of color are inserted into the skin through the ombre tool, which provides a  more traditional tattooed and dramatic look. The ombre brow is best for people who want a more substantial brow than microblading and have oily or combination skin. This look will last you about 12 to 18 months before you need to re-apply.

Microshading

Microshading is similar to microblading, but instead of making full strokes to mimic the look of hairs, the microshading tool will shade in the sparse areas of your brow to make it look fuller.  So instead of looking as natural as the microbladed brow, your eyebrow will look more like a well-done shading job from a brow pencil. The tool creates tiny dots of pigment instead of full strokes. Clients have said that it is a little less painful than both the micro and ombre techniques. Some people even fall asleep on the chair, it’s so non-invasive.

If you want to get the best of both worlds – a little more fill but looking more natural – then the combination of both microblading and ombre shading will help you achieve that. On the thicker part of the brow, the microblading technique will help you achieve a more natural, less filled-in shape, while the middle part to the arch of your brow will receive more shading to give it that dramatic tail to perfectly frame your face.
